Stuff I've been doing...
On Smashwords I recently published The Golden Mask & The Throng, a pair of short stories I have combined into a single e-book.
I've made pretty steady progress on my short story "Offer Him Roses," although the first few chapters were difficult to slog through, since there was so much stage-setting to be done. I had originally planned for "Offer Him Roses" to be about about 8,000 - 10,000 words but it's looking like another 15,000 - 20,000 work. Ah, well. If that's what it takes to tell the tale...
I also hope to post a new short story, entitled "Boom," in the next week or so.

Okay, then! My first free short story of 2013 is now available at Smashwords and Fictionpress so please download a copy if the following synopsis interests you: Norm Peters is looking for love on the Internet. He had better be careful, though, because the online world, like the physical one, has an abundance of shadowed paths. And down one such path lurks a shapeshifting monster that calls itself Doll Baby. My next free story will be "The Noontide Archipelago", which will mark a return to the contemporary fantasy genre I enjoy so much. I plan to have it out sometime in February.

I have now posted Chapters 4 and 5 of "Doll Baby" to my Fictionpress page. I'm pretty sure this will be my first completed free story of 2013. Writing is coming slower lately; hopefully I'll perk back up in the next month. My goal is to release one free story each month for at least seven months out of 2013.

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by novelist Marcia Carrington at her blog, Marcia's Book Talk. Marcia is the author of The Great High School Love Game, The Adventures of Mrs. Browning, and Looking Back. You can also visit her Goodreads page. It was a fun interview in which we discuss writing programs, favorite TV shows, and briefly touch on what I consider one of the greatest cosmic mysteries of all time: What does Penny find so fascinating about guys like Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj?
